Name: Ryetail
About the name: Rye- for his ginger pelt, -tail for his balance and agility
Past names: Littlekit, Littlepaw (apprentice), Ryepaw (apprentice)
Age: 56 moons
Gender: tom
Personality: He is neither the best hunter nor the best fighter and this led to him becoming anxious about his position in the clan as a young cat. To conceal this he adopted a demeanour that was snarky, sarcastic and a little arrogant. This doesn’t mean he’s incapable of being kind and he controls these tendencies when the situation calls for it. He’s much more confident about his standing in Roseclan today but the demeanour remains. When a cat grows close to him he doesn’t become a different cat to them or anything like that, instead they are likely to have grown used to his personality and realize he means no harm by what he says.
Clan: Roseclan
Rank: Senior warrior
Former Apprentices: Kestrelpaw, several others
Mother: Palewhisker - classic silver torbie, Roseclan
Father: Plumheart - ginger tabby, Roseclan
Romantic Interest: he’s had a few flings but nothing serious in his time.
Siblings: no surviving littermates, other siblings open.
Kits: he might have fathered a litter or two. I guess his kits are open if anyone’s interested.
Other family info: While his parents are both Roseclan cats he has a fair bit of kittypet blood unbeknown to him. His maternal grandfather and one of his maternal great grandfathers were kittypets/former kittypets.
Genetics: XOY Aa Dd BB Mcmc tata spsp Ii* Ss Ccs
*He’s somewhere between shaded and tabby on the silver scale. He probably has broken mackerel tabby markings genetically as well.
Pelt: His pelt is mostly ginger with what appears to be paler spots along his back and sides. He also has spots of slightly darker ginger along these areas. He has a stripe of the same shade of darker ginger along his spine, distinctive for the solidness of the colour. He has white on his legs, chest, neck, under tail, tail tip and muzzle.
Eyes: copper
Fur length and type: He has a soft, sleek pelt. While not so long as say a Persian’s his pelt is still quite long and luxurious. His fur is slightly longer around his neck creating a maned appearance and along his tail.
Build: slight, small, aptly described as scrawny. A serious of kit-hood illnesses and a shortage of food (he was in a late leaf-fall litter) stunted his growth as a kit to make matters worse he stopped growing early on in his apprenticeship. So he is often mistaken for an apprentice at gatherings and the like. Some Ivyclan warriors were even worried Roseclan had begun training underage cats when he went to his first gathering.
Face: unusually angular for a feral cat hinting at his kittypet ancestry
Scars: Average amount for his age. He has a nick in his left ear but no other scars worth mentioning.
Short description: scrawny, faint ginger tabby tom with copper eyes and a long pelt
Standing in clan/group: He’s respected as a senior warrior, younger cats may not be used to his abrasive personality just yet and think him mean or perhaps a little scary.
Dream Rank: Deputy
Fighting: He isn’t a great fighter and is pretty insecure about this even now. He gets by in fights but he knows he should avoid them where possible. He has unusually good strength in his legs for one of his build but he doesn’t have the size or weight to back up his strikes. His fighting style is defensive and relies a lot on proximity of clanmates as well as speed.
Hunting: He’s a fair to good hunter. He’s good at staying silent and his technique is good. However he struggles to bring down larger prey like rabbits, hares and most large birds. He generally sticks to small birds, fish and small rodents.
Strengths: He’s a very agile cat and has remarkable endurance when it comes to long journeys, pain or tedious situations although he does respond to the latter with much sarcasm. He’s a decent strategist and has a head for organizing other cats.
Weaknesses: Fighting, hunting larger prey, making new acquaintances, he has an awful immune system,
Fears: He’s petrified of being killed by a bird of prey. Yes the whole death thing would be bad but can you imagine the humiliation? A senior warrior should not be mistaken for a rabbit. He’s a little scared of water after a kithood incident. He’s also scared of being forced to retire early for sickness or injury.
Former positions: kit, apprentice
Mentor: Cloverflower a white she-cat
History: At Mothnose's first gathering Mothnose marched over to Ryetail and asked him how training was going. Ryetail, then 30 moons old, was not happy about this mistaken identity in the slightest.
