Smokesight recoiled lightly from where she had bumped her already sore nose, a tight pain forming deep in her skull. She felt her fur get hot with embarrassment, but was relieved when the others either failed to notice, or at least gave her the courtesy of doing so. "Don't be so harsh with her, Laurelheart," She mewed gently while lowering her head with guilt, "It was my fault anyway. I suggested we play hide and seek." She pressed her chin against her chest, blank eyes staring at her paws. If she thought hard enough she could picture what they looked like, though it only worsened the constant dull pain in her skull. She assumed she was in for a tongue lashing. As a queen and an adult, she should have known better. Perhaps she really should have just retired to the Elder's Den.

End up dreaming instead of sleeping.

Laurelheart wasn’t quite sure how to respond without betraying Moonkit’s confidence, which was more than she deserved right now. He tuned out Burnkit’s chant.
“It’s not your fault Smokesight, kits are bound to be kits.”
Most kits would pull away at the first sting of the thorns and Smokesight didn’t know any different. He bent his head to examine the wounds more closely in the moonlight spilling over into the den. Too shallow to dress properly but a poultice couldn’t do any harm. He fetched a musty marigold stem and started chewing; most of the mixture he spat up onto an ivyleaf, keeping just enough to put a thin coating on the wounds.
“This might sting a little.” Perhaps he was going through the motions to keep Moonkit’s secret or maybe he was too set in his ways to escape his routine; either way he leaned forwards and aimed a lick along the kitten’s torn pelt.

Moonkit pretended to flinch as Laurelheart began to apply the poultice. She even bit her tongue as if trying not to cry out. In reality, she felt nothing, no sting. She was acting as if in pain, at least she thought she was acting that way. Having felt no pain herself, she wasn't entirely sure. The only bad thing about the treatment in her opinion was the smell of the herbs. She scrunched her nose up and screwed her eyes at the awful smell, she could only imagine how it tasted. "What is that?" She asked, as if hoping to distract herself from the stinging she was supposed to be feeling, but in all reality she was just curious.
Burnkit fidgeted, nervously, her heart going out towards Moonkit. Her tail whisked from side to side in agitation, seeing Moonkit tense up at the predicted pain. Oh, awful it must be! "You're going to be fine," Burnkit encourage, beginning to pace a little. "Are you almost done?" Burnkit complained, as if she was the one who was feeling the sting of the herbs instead of Moonkit.
