What is a clowder
A clowder is defined as a group or cluster of cats. Any group of adult or adolescent cats that lives or works together long term is a clowder. A mother raising her young kittens isn't a clowder unless the kittens stay with her after they hit six months. Groups of cats do not need to go through the clowder application process but in doing so they will have a dedicated section in the allegiances and information in this thread.
Forming a Clowder
In order to form a clowder you need:
You can apply to form a clowder here.
Territories
Once a clowder is established (has existed for an in character season) they can claim a territory board. Three cats roleplayed by different members and proven activity are required to claim a territory. Territories can be claimed here.
Territory size will increase as more cats join the clowder You may start out with four cats who claim a small patch of the unclaimed woods but as the group grows they may expand their territory. If they grow large enough they could claim the entire unclaimed woods. Similarly if a group loses members the territory may grow smaller. If a clowder grows too small or becomes inactive they may lose their territory completely.
Fighting for territory
With territory comes conflict and one clowder can challenge another for their territory. When challenging for territory you are required to tag or message members of the other clowder so they see your challenge. If a member with an adolescent or adult character does not respond for two weeks the defenders will win the territory by default. For valid conflicts the winner can be decided ahead of time or once the thread is completed (it is up to you to decide when to close the thread).
If a winner cannot be decided or you wish for an outside judge a member of staff can judge the conflict for you.
Disbanding a clowder
If a clowder falls below two cats roleplayed by two different members they will be disbanded and lose their section of the allegiances and their territory. Clowder information will be archived. Low activity or a decrease in the number of cats may result in loss or reduction of territory.

{Staff Judging Process}In the interest of fairness we have developed a system for judging territory conflicts. First staff will read through the challenge thread, if there is a clear winner we will decide from the thread alone. If the fight is close each active cat involved in the conflict will be given a score. This score is heavily based on age with adult cats in their prime having the highest scores. The score may be modified according to each cat's size and fighting prowess. Queens defending their kittens may also get a bonus. The score for each clowder is totalled and converted into percentage chance of each clowder winning. Excel's random function will then be used to decide a winner.
