There was moments when Honeyleap missed her mother so much it made her sick-this was one of them. And then there was moments where she paced and cursed at her mother for abandoning her. This was one of those moments,as well. Why? Why did you go? I need you and you've left me. I have no one now. I am no one without you. And there was moments where Honeyleap was sure she didn't need a tom or any other cat. She had herself. Wasn't that enough? No. A thousand no's. She needed attention and love and if she didn't receive it, it drove her mad. She could kill somebody for it. She saw those other cats-the ones who cuddled together, who bragged about their love. "Oh, lucky us. Our souls were meant for one another!" She hated those cats. Hated them, envied them. They had what she desired but never got. Was it too much to ask for a mate? Was her soul so differently made that none was meant for it? Was no one's soul built for her's? "Soulmates." She spat out the word, a blanket of melancholy draped over the cream she-cat as she wandered. Her mother had bad luck with romance-Honeyleap could see now that she would have bad luck as well. At least we have that much in common. She felt like crying.

Yet another slow yet equally satisfactory day of the usual Warrior duties and Goldenstrike wished he had some excitement to spark this day into life, but he was fine with a slow day, too. He had come to the Shaded Creek, as it was a place of tranquility and silence. However, there was a very angry aura coming from this place full of hatred and frustration. It upset Goldenstrike as much as the green-leaf sun did. This would not do at all. Sure enough, Goldenstrike saw who he believed was Honeyleap, pacing in a crazed way. She certainly seemed bothered, and made Goldenstrike visibly nervous. He observed with a worried expression, but she didn't seem to notice him as he stood about a tail length away from her.
His ears twitched and jerked backwards when she spat out the word: "Soulmates!"
His confusion grew, and he frowned a small frown. The kind that quiet cats make when they're unhappy but don't wish to show it to others. Goldenstrike felt worried, and so he considered speaking up.
"Excuse me, uh.." Goldenstrike began, quieter than he liked. Clearing his throat, he raised his voice and kept it clear and serious, with just a tad of worry dripping from it. "Is there something..wrong? You can tell me," and snapped his jaws shut before he offered lending an ear. They hardly knew each other, and she was a she-cat, so perhaps it was something to do that was...she-cat-related? He lashed his tail as he noticed his ears were flattened against his head, an act only from his kittenhood or in severe worry. This she-cat seemed annoyed, so he let the explicit worry slide just this once.

"Excuse me, uh..Is there something..wrong? You can tell me," She spun around, eyes ablaze and ears erect, tail swishing from side to side angrily. She had thought she was alone-she thought she could have a moment alone without interruption, away from cat's. There was no patrol out yet, and she was sure no one was out hunting, either. And many cats did not venture out of camp-she had thought she was alone. She was not alone, and in front of her stood a tom with kind eyes. Goldenstrike. She eyed him carefully before attempting to calm herself. It isn't his fault. Breathe. I'm alright. There is nothing to be angry about. The fire was still lit but dimmed just enough for her to look at him without the sneer. She huffed, making sure to look friendlier and gentle-making sure she looked like the cat many cat's knew and recognized her as. Very few saw her for what she was-angry and rotten. Many only saw what she fed them. That's how she liked it.
She raised her tail and let it curl forwards, a brow raised as she gazed at the striped tom. Goldenstrike and his brother were known for their kindest-now that she was calm, she was no longer surprised nor angry that he had approached. It wasn't uncommon for them to help other's. They were good inside unlike her. She smiled-it came off brittle. "Yes, there is something wrong. I have terrible luck with romance and fear I shall never find love. Quite a problem, isn't it?" She asked, her tone somewhere between playful and sarcastic.

Goldenstrike did not flinch when the furious she-cat spun around, ears swiveled forward to see who had disturbed her and tail lashing behind her. He stood tall, seemingly unaffected by any of this. This was to be expected, Goldenstrike thought, as he had just witnessed her in her own world of rage and a cat that was surprised by this reaction was a fool. Not only did he see shock, but familiarity also poured into Honeyleap's expression as well. She recognized him, therefore she knew his brother and knew that they both have kind, open hearts. He predicted that she would not speak with a disdainful tone but a calm voice.
He observed her until she spoke up with a small smile. Goldenstrike forcefully and painfully made a smaller smile than she; it was all he could muster for her–-for anyone--at present. However, when romance was mentioned and spoken so--so casually--his smile vanished as fast as his parents. A frown summoned upon his face. Well now, he mused, how is one supposed to react to this? Don't she-cats talk to other she-cats about these things, not toms?! This intricate personality of her's had Gold confused, but he would try to lend aid, even if it was over a silly thing.
"Tragic," Goldenstrike responded in a dull voice with lowered eyelids. He decided to try and play along with her sarcastic ways but noted that he should be careful with what he said and did, as this was his clanmate whom he lived with and would cross paths with daily. "Well, perhaps you should let it come naturally? There is plenty of time, no need to rush. You aren't the only cat who lacks a mate. I, for instance, do not have a partner in my life but I am just as happy and loved, by my brother, Dawnblaze." Goldenstrike sounded proud as he mentioned his brother, but internally he was having yet another heartbreak. He didn't want just a brother. He wanted his parents. He wanted a friend. Yet here he was, letting fear seep in and loneliness dig deep into his soul. How miserably pathetic I am, acting like I am satisfied. Lying. But it hurts to have one precious piece of family knowing they can get snatched from you at moment's notice.

She watched him curiously. All her life, she had been so certain that other cat's lived such a happier life than she-she was so certain that she was the only cat who suffered and resented all. She had been so certain that everyone had someone except her. All she had was her mother, and even she left Honeyleap. Abandoned. And foolishly she began to search for someone to fill all the gaps she has in her life. And here she was now, staring at a tom who seemed just as stony and false as she. "Tragic," he said. She wanted to hiss at him, "don't mock me!" but instead she stayed still, nostrils flaring once. I should have known better than to say anything. No one understands. She remained silent and watched him. For a moment, she wondered whether they were alike or not. She almost recognized the dull look he gave her. A look that was supposed to hide things away behind a "nothing is out of place". Her eyes narrowed and she almost leaned in, as if to get a better look but stopped herself, blinked and the resemblance between her and him was lost and he was just a familiar stranger again.
"Well, perhaps you should let it come naturally? There is plenty of time, no need to rush. You aren't the only cat who lacks a mate. I, for instance, do not have a partner in my life but I am just as happy and loved, by my brother, Dawnblaze." She blinked as he continued, her irritation growing along with her self pity. Oh, mama. You were right. The only one who really knew me was you. But you are gone, mama. She gazed away from him, brows furrowed further as she sat back on her haunches, tail wrapped around herself. "But surely there are things that even a brother's love cannot mend."

Goldenstrike tried to ignore it. He tried shrugging off how Honeyleap seemed to lean in, observing him with skeptical eyes as if she knew what he was hiding. It was unnerving as they had their little chat, which Goldenstrike hoped and prayed to Starclan would not turn into a long, dull conversation. Unfortunately, as soon as he thought she would dismiss him, she sat down with a somewhat perplexed expression, making Goldenstrike's ear flick once in annoyance as she spoke, "But surely there are things that even a brother's love cannot mend."
And his heart dropped. He averted his gaze and tried staring elsewhere, but everywhere his gaze went he still saw the world spinning, Goldenstrike couldn't deny how accurate Honeyleap was. She was so right it hurt. She's correct, I can't pretend I'm satisfied... Goldenstrike thought. Wait. She doesn't have anyone.
The whole time, Goldenstrike appeared to be deep in thought, until his head snapped forward in Honeyleap's direction. "You wouldn't know unless you had siblings, now would you?" He grumbled, eyes piercing through her. His muzzle slightly twitched, threatening to peel back and bare teeth.
