Leader
In short roleplaying a leader is a big deal. You are expected to keep up with ceremonies, post in gatherings, choose mentors and be involved in the day-to-day decision making of the clan.
Ceremonies:
Leaders are responsible for keeping up with making kits into apprentices and apprentices into warriors. They do not need to keep track of when apprentices and warriors are due to be made (they will be messaged with this info) but do have some leeway in postponing or bringing forward ceremonies. Information on what ages apprentices and warriors are made is found in the Apprentices and Mentors thread.
Ceremony threads have a few guidelines to keep things running smoothly.
1. Try to roleplay out the ceremony in full. Sometimes the ceremony cannot be completed in roleplay. This is fine just try to roleplay them out.
2. Summarize the ceremony in the first post. In case the ceremony isn't completed in roleplay for whatever reason it is important to have a summary on the first post. This is quite simple just put in brackets at the start of the post {Leopard's Willowkit to become Willowpaw mentored by Leopard's Ternstar}
3. Tag the roleplayers of the new apprentices, warriors and mentors in the summary. Members can be tagged by clicking this symbol:
and entering the roleplayer's username. If for whatever reason you cannot tag the roleplayers please message them to inform them the ceremony is taking place.
4. When apprentices are being made into warriors and kits into apprentices at the same time give each their own thread.
Here are sample summaries for two ceremonies.
This is the most important roleplay requirement so try to keep up with ceremonies.
Deputies and mentors:
Another big requirement of the leader is to choose mentors and replacement deputies. They will be provided with a shortlist of applicants for choosing the new deputy but will have complete control over which active characters are chosen as mentors. Replacement mentors will be handled by the staff. The one criteria they need to follow is not pairing up mentors and apprentices by the same roleplayer.
The roleplayer of the leader is encouraged to make decisions that make sense for their character. Dose this leader value the energy of youth or the experience of a senior warrior as a deputy? Do they believe a 14 moon old cat has the experience to mentor an apprentice? Are they likely to be swayed by a warrior or kit asking for a particular mentor/apprentice?
LivesLeaders shouldn't live forever. They can and should lose lives pretty regularly. There is no hard and fast rule in this category but losing a life at least every other major plot is a good guideline.
FAQWhat about if my character is off on a long journey how am I supposed to keep up with the ceremonies while not breaking reality?
In that case you wouldn't be expected to perform ceremonies or attend gatherings. The deputy or medicine cat would have to make announcements at the gathering and cats due to have ceremonies would just have to wait until the leader returns.
